The Short of It
Parents who surprised their kids with the Play-Doh Sweet Shoppe Mountain Playset this Christmas got a surprise of their own. It seems an extruder tool included in the set too closely resembles a phallus for many families' liking. The Lowdown
After Christmas, parents took to social media in droves to protest the penis-shaped tool
included in the baking set. Apparently, consumers started to complain
about the offending member in November, but the outcry reached a fever
pitch following the holiday.
Hasbro, which makes the preschooler
friendly dough, has taken down the comments on its Facebook page, but it
responded to concerned families with this message: "We have heard some
consumer feedback about the extruder tool in the Play-Doh Cake Mountain
playset and are in the process of updating future Play-Doh products with
a different tool."The Upshot
Looking at the photos of the pretty inappropriate
extruder tool, I can see why parents were less than thrilled upon
opening their playsets. But come on! Can't we just laugh at how it looks
(exactly) like a penis and not make such a fuss? And if kids ask
questions, so what? Shouldn't we be able to answer their inquiries like
adults? I mean, some parents claim the Play-Doh penis ruined their Christmas. That is just a bunch of, ahem, junk, if you ask me.
